February

2 Groundhog Day Ceremony & Groundhog Day Breakfast

Witness Sun Prairie's own "Jimmy the Groundhog" make his annual prognostication and predict whether we will have an early or late spring! Jimmy will be present with other local dignitaries at Cannery Square Plaza beginning at 7:00 am. Jimmy makes his annual prediction at sunrise!. Stop by the Market Street Diner, 110 Market St. in downtown Sun Prairie before or after the official ceremonies for a Groundhog Day Breakfast buffet featuring French Toast, bacon, sausages and scrambled eggs and coffee for only $ 6.00. Breakfast will be served from 6:00 AM. Beans 'N Cream Coffeehouse has official Groundhog Day merchandise on sale in addition to chocolate Jimmy's in a variety of sizes. You'll find delicious drink specials too! And don't forget to shop downtown for other Groundhog Day specials!

12 Poetry and Chocolate at the Crosse House

Time: 2pm to 4pm

Come in from the cold and join us for this poetry reading and chocolate tasting event. Bring a favorite poem or just come to listen! The Historic Crosse House is located at 133 W. Main Street in Sun Prairie. Find out more at www.crossehouse.org

23 Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt

Lower grounds at Angell Park, starts at 12:30 pm SHARP! The Sun Prairie Lions Club will hide eggs for kids in three age categories, up to 3, 4 to 5 and 6 to 7. Find special prize eggs in each age category. Free candy for all participants. Please bring a perishable food item for the local food pantry to participate.

7 Sun Prairie Farmers' Market | Opens for the season, 7:00 am to noon.

7 Mother's Day at the Farmers' Market | Decorate a flower pot and plant a flower for Mom! It's all FREE, from 7 AM to noon.

3-4 Motors & Music Car Show | at Angell Park, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Live music at 6:00 pm

12 Dog Fest 2011 | at Angell Park

18 Downtown Block Party | 11:00 am, Cannery Square Plaza. Great event for the entire family! Live music featuring SUPER TUESDAY, the Blue Steel Band and The Stellanovas!. Many activities, food court, beer garden and much more.

18 Annual Strawberry Fest | 8:00 am - 3:00 pm, Sun Prairie Colonial Club, 301 Blankenheim Lane.

18 Sun Prairie Farmers Market Father's Day Fun Day | 7:00 am - 12:00 pm, Church and Main Street. Bring the kids to the market this Saturday and we will provide materials for them to make a special gift for Dad! It's all free compliments of the Sun Prairie Farmers' Market and the Sun Prairie Business Improvement District.

A portion of the proceeds from all participants will be donated to the Sun Prairie Dream Park! Kids activities, games and lots of fun. Special sales by local vendors. Live music by Innuendo and Honeyshots. Beer and other beverages will be available to wash it all down!

Downtown Car Cruise

5 Downtown Car Cruise | 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm, Market Street. Hot rods, classic cars, customs, antiques and more gather on Market Street for an evening of fun! Live entertainment, food and prize drawings will all be part of the fun!

Check out the array of custom and vintage cars and listen to the cool cowboy sound of the Rowdy Prairie Dogs! Great music, food by Market Street Diner, ice cream from Sassy Cow Creamery and lots of fun!

10 Downtown Art Fest | 10:00 am - 4:00 pm, 100 & 200 Blocks on E Main Street. Over 30 artists will set up on Main Street to sell their creations in the shadows of Downtown Sun Prairie's historic buildings. In addition to the fine art presented for purchase there will be a variety of entertainment throughout the day, food and beverages offered by local restaurants and a special area where kids can create their own art! The Sun Prairie Historical Library and Museum will feature a special exhibit during the Art Fest.

10 Sun Prairie Blues Fest | Sun Prairie Lions Club, 12:00 pm - 10:00 pm, Angell Park. www.spbluesfest.com It's the 5th annual Sun Prairie Blues Fest hosted by the Sun Prairie Lions Club. Enjoy 10 hours of great blues. Many food vendors and beverages to choose from including Miller beer products. A fund raiser for the Sun Prairie Lions Club.

15 Sun Prairie Farmers Market Decorate A Pumpkin Day | 7:00 am - 12:00 pm

19 Scarecrow Contest | Downtown Sun Prairie Enter to win cash prizes in the annual build a scarecrow contest! Three categories, adult, youth and business. It's all for fun and scarecrows will hang on Main Street lightposts!

22 Fall Festival | 11:00 am - 4:00 pm Visit Downtown businesses for a day of fun and games! Face painting, pumpkin seed spitting, decorate a dog bowl, guess the weight of the giant pumpkin...you get the idea! There's extra fun at Cannery Square Plaza including cupcake decorating, make a caramel apple sundae, food and more fun! Judges will be tasting the many pies entered in the annual Pie Baking Contest, scarecrows will be hanging out on lightposts and there will be FREE horse drawn wagon rides throughout the downtown area! 25 Holiday Tree Lighting | 6:15 pm, Historical Library and Museum, 115 E. Main St. Santa arrives on a fire truck to light the Community Christmas Tree in the front yard of the Historical Library & Museum. Free cookies and hot apple cider, music by the Community Band and a performance by students of Fusion Dance Academy. There will also be free horse drawn wagon rides throughout the downtown from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Loading and unloading in front of the Historical Museum.

25 Holiday Fire Truck Parade | 6:00 pm, Main Street, from Kroncke Drive to Market Street, fire trucks from area communities decorate their vehicles in holiday splendor and take a trip down Main Street. They will park on Main Street so that you can get up close and personal with the firemen. It's quite a sight! (times are approximate)

26 Santa at the Crosse House | 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, 133 W Main St. Bring the kids to the Crosse House for a visit with Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus! It;s free and all kids will get a treat from Santa! Bring your camera for a treasured photo! Free horse drawn wagon rides will continue on this day from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Load and unload in front of the Historical Museum!

December

1 Ladies Night Out | 5:00 pm, Downtown Sun Prairie...A fun night of shopping, tasting and more for the ladies in Downtown Sun Prairie. Registration begins at 5:00 pm at Prairie Flowers & Gifts and Beans 'n Cream Coffeehouse. The first 250 ladies to register will receive a shopping bag filled with coupons, samples and other things to kick the night off right! Visit participating Downtown businesses from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm for holiday specials, refreshments, demo, sweet treats and more! When it is all over turn your punch card in to participating businesses and you could win a valuable prize! Don't miss this special night of fun and values!
