FEBRUARY

2 - Groundhog Day Ceremony & Groundhog Day Breakfast

Witness Sun Prairie's own "Jimmy the Groundhog" make his annual prognostication and predict whether we will have an early or late spring! Jimmy will be present with other local dignitaries at Cannery Square Plaza at sunrise. Stop by the Market Street Diner, 110 Market St. in downtown Sun Prairie before or after the official ceremonies for a Groundhog Day Breakfast buffet featuring French Toast, bacon, sausages and scrambled eggs and coffee for

only $ 6.00. Breakfast will be served from 6:00 AM

APRIL

4 -  Easter Egg Hunt 

at Angell Park sponsored by the Sun Prairie Lions Club. Thousands of eggs will be hidden for kids in three age groups. Prizes awarded for special eggs! Admission is a non-perishable food item for the local food pantry. The hunt begins at 12:30 PM sharp! Listen for the sound of the air horn.

4 - Bunny Bash sponsored by the Bank of Sun Prairie at the Angell Park Pavilion. 10:00 AM to noon. Bring the kids for a great time!

MAY

2- Downtown Flea Market at Cannery Square Plaza, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Businesses and individuals will have unique products and services to offer at great prices!

2- Farmers Market Opens for the Season behind the Sun Prairie Municipal Building at

300 E. Main Street, Downtown. 7:00 AM to noon. www.spfarnersmarket.com

JUNE

14 - Dog Fest 2009

at Angell Park,. "Lap Dogs and Motor Mutts"a fun filled day of hands on events, contests and demonstrations for people and their four legged best friends.  Local Rescue Groups, Dog Friendly Businesses and Dog Food vendors will be on hand to answer questions and help you find another best friend. This year parking and admission will be free. For more details go to the Mounds web site– www.moundspet.com.

20- Downtown Block Party at Cannery Square  Noon to 8:00 PM. Live music by Goon Goo Peas (noon to 1:30 PM), the Narly Barly Boys (2:00 PM to 4:30 PM) and Pink Houses (5:00 PM to 8:00 PM), food vendors, kids entertainment, car cruise, clowns, stilt walker, midget race car on display, games, beer garden and lots of family fun! FREE ADMISSION! Free shuttle rides to the Colonial Club's Annual Strawberry Fest!

JULY

4- Flags of Freedom Parade & Field Show Parade starts at 2:00 PM, Columbus Street, Field Show starts at 7:00 PM at Ashley Field, 220 Kronke Drive.

25 - "Taste of Sun Prairie" Cannery Square Plaza. Noon. to 7:00 PM. (Food served until 6:00 PM) We have gathered restaurants from all over Sun Prairie to sample some of their favorite dishes! All food items will be $5.00 and under and proceeds will be donated to the Firemen's Park in the Prairie! Live music and a beer garden on Market Street! Join the fun! Find bargains all over town during Sun Prairie Sales Days too!

AUGUST

13 - Hot August Night Car Cruise on Market Street from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Classic cars, hot rods, antiques and more. Live music, door prizes, root beer floats, ice cream bars, brats, hot dogs and a great time! Bring the family down and join in the fun!

20, 21, 22, 23 Sun Prairie Sweet Corn Festival at Angell Park. Carnival, craft sale, family activities, entertainment and tons of hot buttered sweet corn. It's a Sun Prairie tradition! $5.00 parking includes admission for a car full. Walk-in admission $1.00 www.sunprairiechamber.com

27 - Hot August Night Car Cruise!   The cars are back on on Market Street from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Classic cars, hot rods, antiques and more. Door prizes, root beer floats, ice cream bars, brats, hot dogs and a great time! Bring the family down and join in the fun!

SEPTEMBER

12 - Downtown ArtFest Artists from Wisconsin and the mid-west will display and sell their creations. Were closing the 100 and 200 blocks of East Main Street for this event! Fun, food and family entertainment!10 AM to 4 PM

12 - 3rd Annual Sun Prairie Blues Fest 

The 3rd Annual Sun Prairie Blues Fest at Angell Park will feature great Blues music from all over the mid west including Magic Slim and the Tear Drops and "T-Man" Tallan the 11 year old blues sensation form Wisconsin! Lots of food vendors, beer and wine. Noon to 10:00 PM. $10.00 admission in advance, $15.00 at the door. All proceeds from this event are used for community and Lions projects.

25 - 27 Planet Bike Cup Cyclocross Bicycle Races

At Angell Park Speedway. Race Weekend #1 for the USA's Premier National Cyclocross Series ("USGP of Cyclocross"). "Cyclocross" style of bike races on Saturday and Sunday. Cyclocross Clinic(s) on Friday and racing for all ages and levels throughout the weekend, including the Pro Women's and Men's Races in the afternoon. Fans encouraged for this spectator friendly event, with food, beverages and and expo area on site. Details at www.madcross.org

OCTOBER

21- Nov. 1 -Street of Scarecrows on Main Street downtown. Homemade scarecrows made by local residents and businesses will be on display along Main Street from Jones to Dewey. You can help judge the "Best of Show" category by filling out a judging form.

24 - Fall Festival...the 3rd Annual Downtown Fall Festival

takes place from11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Plan your route to catch all the activities including pumpkin decorating, bobbing for apples, a pie baking contest, make-your-own caramel apple sundaes, fresh apples on sale ,kids activities and more! Live music by the Rowdy Prairie Dogs at Cannery Square Plaza from 1 PM to 4 PM.  Free Horse Drawn Wagon rides around the downtown area! Great family fun!

NOVEMBER

SHOP DOWNTOWN FOR THE HOLIDAYS!

27- Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Sun Prairie Historical Museum & Library. 6:30 PM.

Santa Claus makes his arrival in Sun Prairie aboard a fire truck from the Sun Prairie Volunteer Fire Department, the Community Band plays holiday music, volunteers pass out cookies and hot cider. Watch Santa light the magic tree downtown!

27 - Holiday Fire Truck Parade

Fire trucks from many communities arrive decorated for the holidays and drive down Main Street where visitors can watch and take pictures. It's a dizzying array of festive lights for the holiday!

27 & 28 - FREE Horse Drawn Wagon Rides through the Downtown area from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. 28 - Visit with Santa Claus at the Crosse House bring the kids to see Santa at the Historical Crosse House on Main Street. Free treats! Bring a camera for a great photo! 10 AM to 2 PM.

DECEMBER

5 - Visit with Santa and Horse Drawn Wagon Rides All FREE, brought to you by all Downtown Businesses! 10 AM to 2 PM.

5 - Crosse House Holiday Cookie Sale takes place at the Crosse House from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Homemade cookies by the piece or by the pound. All proceeds benefit Crosse House restoration!
